During the 1970s there was big social change in the US and young people were committing all kinds of crimes. Social study experts knew that experience is the best teacher. With that in mind, groups of problematic young people were given the experience of prison with intense chastisement talks, from hardcore inmates. The at-risk youths were scared straight and turned their lives around for the better.
Today more so than the 1970s, many young people are caught up in a face-paced lifestyles which often lead to trouble.. Do we need scared-straight programs today as an intervention for problematic youth? Yes we do, and we will be following up on this matter JonAk
