Poultry Pulls Zanzibar’s Poor Out of Poverty
(2011) Small loans…eggs…and a brisk tourism business are helping women on the island of Zanzibar climb out of poverty. The loans come from the World Bank, through Zanzibar’s government. The eggs come from the chickens, and the tourists from all over the world. Together they represent a better standard of living for some of the island’s residents.
