After the case, the local woman honed her psychic skills.
Mary Ellen Rodrigues calls it the murder case that changed her life.
The Masury woman said she had always been clairvoyant.
But when Darryl Cozart of Sharpsville, Pa., the son-in-law of a friend, went missing in 1997, her psychic powers became profound. The anguished spirit of Cozart, who had been murdered, was in near-constant contact with Rodrigues. His spirit wouldn’t leave her alone, she said, and she regularly relayed information to police investigating the case.
Rodrigues’ involvement in the murder case will be the topic of an episode of “Psychic Investigators” that will air Thursday, Friday and Saturday on The Biography Channel.
First contact
Rodrigues recalls the events as though they were yesterday.
“It happened in March of ’97. I owned the R & amp;S Newsroom in Sharon at the time,” said Rodrigues.
“Darryl Cozart’s mother-in-law, Mary, came into my store, and said Darryl was missing. She gave me a poster to put up with his picture on it. As I looked at it, my mind went into two worlds. I was looking at Mary, but I also could see Darryl. I said ‘Mary, he’s here, can you see him?’ But she couldn’t.
“Darryl was angry, and he kept saying ‘Show me the door back.’ I told Mary, ‘He’s trying to find his way back, but he’s dead.'”
Mary left the store and returned later with her daughter (Darryl’s wife) Jeannette Cozart. “I told her he was dead and how sorry I was,” recalled Rodrigues. “She didn’t understand. Darryl kept yelling at me. He said to tell her to hush, and kept saying something about a ghost. I said to Jeannette, ‘He keeps saying, “Tell her ghost.” Does that mean anything to you?’ She said, ‘Yes, our favorite movie is “Ghost.”‘
“Darryl also kept saying ‘fickle, fickle.’ I asked Jeanette if that meant anything to her. Was he saying she was fickle? But she said no, she didn’t know what it meant.”
Charged, found guilty
Frank Fickle of Hermitage was later charged with murdering Cozart, and was found guilty in 1998. Fickle is serving a life sentence.
Rodrigues said she also kept having a vision of a location on Superior Street in Sharon, which, she said, was near Fickle’s house. She could also see Cozart’s bloodied body lying in a bog, with tall weeds and an old fence nearby.
Cozart’s van was later found in Vienna, and, shortly thereafter, his body was discovered in surroundings similar to Rodrigues’ vision in a remote area off state Route 11 in Ashtabula County.
Cozart was shot dead by Fickle in the basement of Fickle’s home. Fickle’s wife, Cindy, with whom Cozart was having an affair, testified against her husband and was never charged in the crime.
Filming
A Biography Channel film crew came to the Sharon area in January and spent a week re-creating the events of the crime. “We kept pretty quiet about it,” said Rodrigues.
Rodrigues, who doesn’t have cable television, said she will watch the episode with Jeannette Cozart, with whom she remains close. Cozart still lives in Sharpsville.
After the Cozart case came to an end, Rodrigues decided to develop her psychic abilities. She studied at the Fellowships of the Spirit in Lily Dale, N.Y., a school of spiritual healing and prophecy, and became a minister.
“The case changed my life,” said Rodrigues, who now does readings full-time. “I didn’t think it was a big deal at the time, but I realize now that it was. [The spirit world] became my calling.”

One must be wary of psychics. Either they are charlatans or communers with demons, unless they are Christ-followers and have received a word of knowledge or wisdom from the Lord. But in the latter case, they are not psychics. ❤️&🙏, c.a.

Exposing evil is an empowerment for bringing the lost and unsaved to Christ. There are all kinds of demons in our world during these end times. Prayer, the holy Bible and submission thru the Most Precious Blood of Jesus is the light thru the darkness.
